About the Conference
Annual Conferences
Known for its hospitality and engaging community dynamics, the annual SEAPAVAA Conference is where like-minded people facing the same challenges come together to share their knowledge and experience.
23rd SEAPAVAA Conference
In 2019, the 23rd SEAPAVAA Conference and General Assembly will be happening from the 25th to the 30th of June in Noumea, New Caledonia. This SEAPAVAA Conference will explore the theme of “Memory, History, and Archives”. As with past conferences, we hope that the event will provide the platform for like-minded individuals and institutions to engage with one another, share knowledge and exchange ideas, and address challenges and issues within the field of audio-visual archives in particular as well as the larger field of archives.
The Conference Logo
The logo is designed by Ricky Orellana.
Les Nautiles or the Nautili, has been in existence for 500 million years, hence they are known as “living fossils.” Its iconic shell has appeared in various forms of art and literature, and it has also found its way to become the national emblem of New Caledonia.
The Nautilus shell serves as an inspiration for the logo design for SEAPAVAA’s 23rd conference which will take place in Noumea, New Caledonia from 25 to 30 June 2019. The abstracted whorl in shades of turquoise in the logo recalls a film strip that spirals around a film reel as it unwinds, resembling film frames that represent “chambers” or repositories of “Memory, History and Archives” which is the conference theme.
