About the 24th SEAPAVAA Conference
ANNUAL CONFERENCES
Known for its hospitality and engaging community dynamics, the annual SEAPAVAA Conference is where like-minded people facing the same challenges come together to share their knowledge and experience.
24th SEAPAVAA CONFERENCE
As SEAPAVAA nears its Silver Jubilee in 2021, we are taking stock at the 2020 conference with the theme: “AV Archiving in Changing Times: Success, Failures, and Challenges.” Change, in every aspect of our profession, calls us to fundamentally reflect on our principles and practices. Understanding change necessitates then that we account for the old & the new, continuities & discontinuities, and losses & gains.
THE CONFERENCE LOGO
The logo for SEAPAVAA’s 24th Conference which will take place in Da Nang, Vietnam from 8th to 12th June 2020, is designed by SEAPAVAA member Ricky Orellana.
The Lotus Flower is the national flower of Vietnam. Its ubiquity in the artistic, conceptual, and religious spheres offers a beautiful sight as well as deeply rooted symbolisms influencing the Vietnamese culture. The lotus flower grows in muddy water and rises above the surface to show off its beauty, colour and shape – untouched by the muds – to the universe. It is a symbol of revival, grit, and resilience!
For the logo of SEAPAVAA’s 24th Conference, we take inspiration from the lotus flower. Every audiovisual archive institution has weathered through the impact of the changing times as we reflect on our profession’s “successes, failures, and challenges” which will be the focal discussion of this conference.
